Wedding of 1,000 Candles

I just love designing small and intimate weddings, particularly when  illuminated with the magical glow of one thousand candles.

There is nothing more romantic than a wedding couple bathed in candlelight sharing their love for each other with family and friends. When I first met Olivia, she was very specific what her vision was for her wedding reception: “Sophisticated and romantic with lots of candles.” Olivia who lives and works in Manhattan, wanted an urban and sophisticated yet casual feel to her April wedding reception in San Francisco. She bought out Baker and Banker restaurant in lower Pacific Heights, a cosmopolitan yet casual restaurant with caramel colored walls and leather banquettes to host her fifty guests.

My vision after I visited the restaurant was to contrast the dark English motif of the interior with beautiful white and light colored garden roses and peonies placed on the dinner tables coupled with lots and lots of pillar and votive candles of differing heights placed all along the ledges, tables and other areas of the restaurant. I also replaced the restaurant chairs with mahogany Chiavari banquet chairs softening up the look of Baker and Banker. When we finished decorating the restaurant, it looked absolutely stunning. The only thing left to do was my favorite thing to do, lighting all the candles after setting everything up. When all the candles were lit, I waited for Olivia to enter the restaurant and see what her reaction would be. She was absolutely stunned by all the candles and I knew at that point that the evening would be magical and whimsical for my bride.
